Today, Round 12 of the Latrobe Valley Soccer League saw the clash between Monash Wolves and East Gippsland United Women's Teams. These 2 sides are currently 3rd and 4th on the ladder respectively and the game proved to be a tight struggle. Conditions were cool and damp but the pitch is still fairly firm.
Both sides were attacking well, but all attempts to score first were repelled by the opposition defence or solid goalkeeping. East Gippsland could have taken the advantage around the 30 minute mark when a United player found herself one on one with the keeper inside the box. The scoring attempt went left of the goals however.
It would be fair to say that neither side had the advantage going into the break. Around the 70 minute mark, Monash took the advantage. Only minutes later they scored again to give the Wolves a 2 - 0 advantage.
To United's credit, they did not stop attacking however were unable to find the back of the net.
